There is no better feeling in the world than finally standing on your own two feet by providing services you’re good at. Entrepreneurship gives you validation that who you are as a person and what you love doing are enough for you to be properly compensated and more. Once you’ve started with your journey to becoming an entrepreneur, things slowly fall into place.
But if you think the worst is over, think again! Yes, you may have begun with your business or undertaking, but you are missing one, important thing – remaining relevant to your target audience. Customers are the bloodline of everything you do, which is why you must constantly connect with them through marketing.
What do you need to do in order for your marketing efforts to be successful? Read on and let’s figure it out together.
The Two Main Concepts of Marketing
Before we go into the specific tasks you need to do, you need to understand first that there are two essential components of marketing – gathering intelligence and communicating with your target audience. One element cannot be absent, or else all your efforts are for naught.
1. Gathering Intelligence
This phase of the marketing process is when you take a step back and start thinking before you do anything. What is your plan for the month? What do you hope to achieve? Are there certain activities that we have been doing which could be improved or scrapped altogether for a more efficient marketing venture? Did we get the desired outcome from our previous strategies? These are some of the questions you ask yourself at this point. Basically, this is when you plan, evaluate and review your tactics.
2. Essential Communication
At this time, you take action. Whatever it is that you’ve conceptualized during the intelligence phase, you enact all of them in order to see the results. You can do this through social media, advertising through Google and other internet outlets, as well as via email marketing. Make sure you stick with your goals and schedule all of your actions in order for everything to run seamless.
6 Specific Tasks
Now that we understand the two main principles of what your marketing efforts should contain, let’s delve into the 6 specific tasks you need to do every month.
1. Create specific plans
Before the month starts, you have to have a goal in mind. Are you looking into expanding your influence? If so, what platform will you be using? What specific steps will you undertake to achieve that goal?
2. Consistently post on social media
Everyone, and I mean everyone is always on social media. That means your potential customers are just waiting there! Take that opportunity to always be visible and relevant by posting at least once daily.
3. Advertise your brand
When planning your budget, advertising should be a part of it. You need to advertise at least once a month, because that can help increase your fanbase and have a higher probability of acquiring customers.
4. Promote your business
It is essential to post share-worthy information on your social media accounts, but don’t forget to promote your business as well. As a rule of thumb, for every 4 pieces of content, you should have 1 promotion. That should be balanced enough.
5. Take advantage of email marketing
You know how some websites have a pop-up ad that asks a visitor if they would like to be included in the mailing list? You should do it to. Those who opt in to email notifications are the ones who are really interested in your business.
6. Evaluate your progress
Of course, at the end of it all, you need to sit down and look at how you performed. What worked and what didn’t? Did you achieve the goals you aimed for? What can you do better? These are just a few questions you can ask yourself.
Becoming an entrepreneur or running a business is a rewarding venture in itself as long as you attend to it diligently. This is why you need to tell your potential market that you exist, and that you are ready to address their needs as consumers. Not properly marketing your brand is like not having a business at all.
